Settling in at KGB camp - Lower Salmon

The perfect family rafting adventure. Our Salmon River 5-day rafting trip starts at the Quality Inn & Suites in Clarkston, WA. After a morning orientation at the hotel, we drive to our launch location at Hammer Creek near Whitebird, Idaho. From here we’ll explore 50 miles of the Lower Salmon River as it carves a dramatic canyon through the Columbia River basalts and much older Seven Devils formations. These are the lower gorges of the Salmon delivering dramatic views and big splashy rapids each day. Short stops break up the rafting action as we view ancient pictographs, see the remains of early mining camps, and visit historic Indian sites. Giant white-sand beaches provide a comfortable camp setting each evening. Swimming in the warm water, bocce, volleyball and other activities make each afternoon a perfect day at the beach. Our 5-day trip travels the same distance as our 4-day trip but includes a more leisurely pace and provides opportunities for additional activities. On our fifth day, we’ll reach the Salmon River’s end at its confluence with the Snake River in Hell’s Canyon. With the help of a motor we’ll enjoy a leisurely afternoon on the Snake River – keeping an eye out for big horn sheep and perhaps stopping to ponder the meaning of ancient petroglyphs. At Hellers Bar, transportation will be waiting to return us to the hotel in Clarkston (about 45 minutes). With plenty of sunshine, warm water and comfortable camping, the Lower Salmon provides you with the very best family rafting adventure.

"It’s the day after and I’m still excited! My daughter and I had a remarkable rafting experience and I intend to do more with your company! I’m telling everyone I know about the fun, exciting trip. You’re top notch! "
    Joan H. (Salmon River)
